
Samuel Aguirre
– Orchestra Conductor –
Samuel Agustín Aguirre (Netherlands/Colombia) has two master studies in orchestra conducting and oboe performance from the Maastricht Conservatory. During his studies between 2018 and 2022 he was conductor and artistic director of the Limburgs Jeudg Symfonie Orkest (LJSO) in which he worked with Vesko Eschkenazy (Concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) and Lei Wang (Concertmaster of the Philharmonie Zuidnederland). In 2022 he conducted a debut concert with the international soloists Joyce El-Khoury and Raffaella Lupinacci together with the Filarmonica dell’Opera Italiana Bruno Bartoletti at Teatro Mario del Monaco in Treviso, and participated in the International Opera Conducting Competition organized by the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, which has led to invitations as assistant conductor of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie Liège, the Hungarian State Opera and the Orchestra della Fondazione Teatro Petruzzelli Bari. In 2023 he is invited as assistant conductor of the productions of Il Trittico at the Hamburg Staatsoper and La Sonnambula, Il Barbiere di Siviglia & Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège. Samuel recently conducted the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia and the Sinfonieorchester Basel.
2024 marked his debut at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie – Liège (Belgium) conducting the new production of ‘Patiente, mon coeur’, the debut concert with the Sinfonieorchester Basel at the Stadtcasino Concert hall in Basel (Switzerland) and the debut with the Orchestra & Choir of the Institut Royal Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie in Namur (Belgium) with a Puccini Gala Concert and a concert with candidates of The Queen Elizabeth Competition.
in 2025 He’ll conduct the ‘Symphonie Fantastique’ at the Grand Manege Concert Hall in Namur (Belgium), and will work along the Chineke! Orchestra in London, with as highlight working with Sir Simon Rattle at the BBC Proms.
